Conor de Smith
Conor de Smith aspires to work in the media industry, aiming to become a full-time journalist in the near future.
Now 18, Conor began writing predominantly about football in the summer of 2013 to fuel his passion for the game. VAVEL, the international sports newspaper, came calling for his services just weeks later and has been with the UK edition ever since. Becoming an editor with the website over a year ago, the Aylesbury resident has written over 150 articles whilst managing a large team of writers.
The journalism student at West Herts College, where he has gained experience with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, has since gone on to appear in both the Guardian and the Observer due to work experience set up with football editor Marcus Christenson. Taking an interest in female football, Conor began contributing to Watford Ladies’ programme during 2015.
Conor has also held interviews with many established professionals. Erhun Oztumer, Pape Sane, Rachel Yankey, Stephanie Roche, Ciara Sherwood and Andrew Gibney are just a few to have interviews published by Conor de Smith.
A supporter of Arsenal and a Ligue 1 enthusiast, Conor has also attended press conferences at Brentford Football Club and appears regularly on the E-Arsenal Podcast.
Conor now hopes to study journalism at university next year and subsequently broaden his horizons as he continues his journey to grow as a journalist.
Conor is always open to working with new people and fellow journalists. If you are interested in contacting him for a writing position or a podcast, please send him an email below and he will get back to you straight away.
Conor is located in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.
